News from National

In CDA National News there are five National Projects for which National is asking that all Courts send $20.00 per project per year.  They are Habitat for Humanity, Holy Cross Family Ministries, Laboure, SOAR, and Smile Train.
The site also mentioned what the CDA ( as defined by the IRS as a designated tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization.) can do regarding educating voters about the candidates and their positions.  A recent check of  the National CDA site shows new videos and important information.  Please check out the National CDA site at
The Executive Board has voted to suspend the bylaw concerning financial reviews for this period only. The deadline for this period is June 1, 2020. Should we still be in emergency mode, the board will revisit the date for further extensions. Please follow local, state and federal rules for self-distancing and staying at home. Conduct as much business as you can electronically. According to Olga Samaniego we Can Do Anything!
Convention packets will be arriving soon. We are still planning for an exciting convention in July. If that somehow is still not possible, you will receive info on contingency plans. So far, the convention is still on for July 15-19. We have been under contract with the Sheraton Hotel for four years and plan to have the event there again this year. is the website to see the Texas CDA information.

Season of Giving

Memorial Mass cards are still available $2.50 each. These cards provide prayers once a month for a year for your intentions.  It also provides the money for scholarships.

We will continue to have our general meeting raffle tickets for $1.00 each to support the fund for our Fiesta Fashion show on August 22, 2020.

Ida Vincent will be the chairperson for the Fashion Show this coming year. We are looking for donations of money and items (for our silent auction). Ask your businesses for donations. We have a form for our 501(c)3 patrons.

At the meeting May 5, the court voted to donate $300 to the San Antonio Food Bank.

Our regent Yolanda DeLeon has sewn numerous facemasks for one of our ladies Leighann Diaz’ workplace which cares for vulnerable adults. She is asking our ladies who have sewing machines to join in with this new needed act of kindness for our community.
