News from National

In CDA National News there are five National Projects for which National is asking that all Courts send $20.00 per project per year.  They are Habitat for Humanity, Holy Cross Family Ministries, Laboure, SOAR, and Smile Train.
In CDA State News, Eve Treviño, State Regent, was very happy to report that the Texas CDA won a lot of awards at the National Convention in Pittsburg. Texas won #1 for the most Courts started, 15 courts!  Second place was not even close,  it was 5 courts. Pull out the Share Magazine you should have received and read all about Texas CDA!!  Texas is on fire!
The site also mentioned what the CDA ( as defined by the IRS as a designated tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization.) can do regarding educating voters about the candidates and their positions . Please check out the site at  http://www.catholicdaughters.org.

Father Pio prayer group holds service and confessions the second Saturday of every month.

Volunteer log and calendar are available from Juanita Esquivel who is in charge of collecting volunteer hours as part of our Court’s quality of life.  This information assures that we are a 501(c)3 organization.

Memorial Mass cards are still available $2.50 each. These cards provide prayers once a month for a year for your intentions.  It also provides the money for scholarships.

Our Charities

colourful-volunteer-vectorBudget Committee for Our Charities

CDA members, please make a list of charities you are interested in helping and/or contributing. The National projects are the Habitat for Humanity, International; Holy Cross Family Ministries, Father Peyton; The Laboure Society; Smile Train; SOAR (Supporting Our Aging Religious).  The National Charities:  Apostleship of the Sea; Catholic Relief Services International; Covenant House; Disaster Relief Fund International; Misericordia Heart of Mercy Home; Mother Teresa “Missions of Charity” International; National Center on Sexual Exploitation/Morality in the Media; Pontifical North American College of Rome;  and local charities are a few that we have helped in the past.  Along with these missions, each court or district is encouraged to seek out its own “mission of mercy”.  Each court is encouraged to be aware of needs in their immediate area.  Please contact Yolanda Deleon if you want to make suggestions.
