Our Charities

colourful-volunteer-vectorThe CDA National projects are the Habitat for Humanity, International; Holy Cross Family Ministries, Father Peyton; The Laboure Society; Smile Train; SOAR (Supporting Our Aging Religious).  The National Charities:  Apostleship of the Sea; Catholic Relief Services International; Covenant House; Disaster Relief Fund International; Misericordia Heart of Mercy Home; Mother Teresa “Missions of Charity” International; National Center on Sexual Exploitation/Morality in the Media; Pontifical North American College of Rome; and local charities are a few that we have helped in the past.  Along with these missions, each court or district is encouraged to seek out its own “mission of mercy”.  Our court is aware of needs in our immediate area such as the Food Bank and the Guadalupe Home.

Our Promotions in Photos:

St. Helena of the Cross #2679 has taken on the Gifting Tree ministry. Several times a month we will be selling religious items at the Dolan Center. The profits go to our St. Helena Church. Check the bulletin for dates. See you there!

In July, 2021, members of Court St. Helena of the Cross #2679 in San Antonio attended the Catholic Women’s Conference presented by the Pilgrim Center of Hope.  With the theme of “Women of Hope,” the speakers presented enlightening talks at this two-day conference.  Posing with a cardboard cut-out of Pope Francis, in left to right order:  Diana Becerra, Alma Algermissen, Megan Rothe, Yolanda DeLeon and Shirley Black.  Not included in the photo is Belinda Cortez who worked as a volunteer at the conference. We will attend again this year on July 29-30.

We continue to practice our circle of love spoke of quality of life (social awareness) by taking Christmas gifts and entertaining the folks at the Aventine Senior Living Center on December 20, 2021. We hope to continue this mission at the Heartland located in our parish.

Our family includes the St. Helena Parish. As part of the parish, we staffed the silent auction at the Wine and Tasting event on January 15, in the Dolan Center. The goal is to break ground for a new Religious Ed building for our youth. The parish is close to reaching the $3 million goal.
