Congratulations to the winners!! It was slow in coming. We had to postpone the April 18, 2020 Annual Fiesta. We then had to cancel the August 22,2020 Annual Fiesta. All this due to the Corona Virus. We are all safe. Next year the annual Fiesta will be May 8, 2021.
Installation of officers for St. Helena of the Cross #2679 at St. Helena’s Church August 29 during 10 am Mass. The officers are Yolanda Deleon Regent, Shirley Black Vice Regent, Bea Salas Financial Secretary, Antonia Harkiewicz Recording Secretary, and Rosalie Reyes (not present, Denise Beitel was proxy) Treasurer, Thank you Father Lenin Naffate and thank you to our District Deputy Adelina Ramirez for making the event so memorable. Thank you to all who attended.
Memorial Mass cards are still available $2.50 each. These cards provide prayers once a month for a year for your intentions. It also provides the money for scholarships.
At the meeting May 5, the court voted to donate $300 to the San Antonio Food Bank.
Our regent Yolanda DeLeon has sewn numerous facemasks for one of our ladies Leighann Diaz’ workplace which cares for vulnerable adults. She is asking our ladies who have sewing machines to join in with this new needed act of kindness for our community.
Budget Committee for Our Charities
CDA members, please make a list of charities you are interested in helping and/or contributing. The National projects are the Habitat for Humanity, International; Holy Cross Family Ministries, Father Peyton; The Laboure Society; Smile Train; SOAR (Supporting Our Aging Religious). The National Charities: Apostleship of the Sea; Catholic Relief Services International; Covenant House; Disaster Relief Fund International; Misericordia Heart of Mercy Home; Mother Teresa “Missions of Charity” International; National Center on Sexual Exploitation/Morality in the Media; Pontifical North American College of Rome; and local charities are a few that we have helped in the past. Along with these missions, each court or district is encouraged to seek out its own “mission of mercy”. Each court is encouraged to be aware of needs in their immediate area.
